How It Works
inhomerespitecare.com.au connects you with a registered NDIS provider who can send a support worker to your home for respite. You answer a few questions about the person, the shifts and the funding, we pass your details to one suitable provider, and they contact you. It's free for you, and you're never locked in.
You Tell Us What Would Help
Who the respite is for and their age, the kind of shifts, how often, whether there's NDIS funding, any care that needs a trained worker, the postcode and when you'd like to start. Then how to contact you.
We Find a Provider
We pass your details to one registered NDIS provider who says they can staff that kind of shift in your area.
A Provider Contacts You
They call or email to talk about care needs, the worker, times and prices. Nothing is agreed until you're happy, ideally in a service agreement.
What Happens to Your Details
We only pass your details to a registered NDIS provider that delivers support in the home and may be able to help. It goes to one provider at a time. If they can't help, we pass it to another, up to 3 in total, so you're not left waiting.
We ask for your consent first, because details about disability and support needs are sensitive. You can change your mind at any time by emailing hello@inhomerespitecare.com.au. The full detail is in our privacy policy.
How the Service Is Free
Providers pay us when we introduce them to a family looking for respite. That's how we keep the service free for participants, families, carers and support coordinators.
It doesn't change what you pay. For NDIA-managed and plan-managed funding, providers can't charge more than the maximum prices in the NDIS pricing schedule. See NDIS respite rates, and the standards providers have to meet.
What We Are, and What We're Not
We're an independent matching service. We don't employ support workers, decide funding or give advice about your plan, and we're not part of the NDIA or the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. The provider you're connected with is responsible for the support and the agreement. We only cover NDIS respite in the person's home: for aged care respite, see My Aged Care.
Common Questions
How long does it take?
The questions take about two minutes. When a provider gets in touch depends on the provider. We only pass your details to providers who say they can staff shifts in your area.
Can I choose my own provider and worker?
Yes. You're never locked in. Under the NDIS you choose your providers. If the provider or worker isn't right, tell them or tell us and we'll look for another.
Will lots of providers call me?
No. Your details go to one provider at a time. We only pass them to another provider if the first one can't help.
Do you employ support workers?
No. We don't employ workers or deliver support. We pass what you need to registered NDIS providers, who do.
Can you help in an emergency?
No. We're not an emergency service. For emergency respite, call Carer Gateway on 1800 422 737 at any time. If someone is in immediate danger, call 000.
Can I ask you to delete my details?
Yes. Email us and we'll stop passing your details on and delete them, unless we have to keep something by law. See our privacy policy for how this works.
